Summer is a great time to read – I love to have a selection of good books to tuck into during the holidays. My reading pile is an eclectic mix of crime, humour, life-related and food (naturally!). I enjoy getting recommendations from other people – and of course I like to recommend my own book Eat Well Live Well with The Sensitive Foodie!
I’m a bit old-fashioned when it comes to reading – I still prefer to hold a paperback version rather than read from a kindle or i-pad. There’s something wonderfully magical about the feel of the paper, the weight of the book in your hands and even the smell of it that’s part of the magical reading experience. However, books are heavy, and not so convenient if you’re flying off on holiday with a weight limitation on your suitcase! That’s when e-books really come into their own – you can take your own personal library away with you.
Apart from being able to fit it into your holiday packing, there are other advantages of getting a kindle version of the book too, even if you’re not going away just now.
• If you’re self-catering and enjoying the recipes, you can take them with you to help keep you on track
• It’s easy to find and switch to different recipes on the kindle version, keeping the pages of your paperback pristine – no sticky finger marks!
• It’s useful to cook with the kids, getting them to read the recipe from your i-pad
• And if the kids are resistant to eating recipes from the book, you can hide it on the kindle and they won’t have time to decide in advance they don’t like it (this idea actually comes from some of my Eat Well course members!)
